The emergence of the concept can be associated with the work of Pedro Lopes, who defined it as the critical capacity to analyze mediated representations of memory, particularly in the field of audiovisual fiction, highlighting its role in the construction of social memory. Subsequently, the concept was developed and expanded by Valdemir Santos Neto, who framed it within digital environments and contemporary circulation dynamics, proposing a more structured and operational approach.
